The Chevening Award

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom: The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom (CSCUK) has announced a new funding opportunity for Scholarships for international students from Commonwealth countries.

The CSCUK is offering 5 fully-funded scholarships to eligible citizens of member countries to study at the postgraduate level at UK universities or other institutions of higher education approved by the CSCUK.

You may be eligible if you are aged 18 years or over and have not reached your 25th birthday by 1 January 2020, and can show that you are alumni of any British school outside the UK. Applicants should also demonstrate academic merit, leadership potential, and a commitment to using their knowledge and skills to contribute toward peace and development within the Commonwealth.

All five scholarships will provide living expenses, tuition fees, and return airfare. Successful applicants will need to commit to working in their country of origin for two years following completion of their studies.

The Sir James Knott Scholarship

This scholarship, worth up to £10,000, is available to international students from any country applying to study at Newcastle University in England. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit and the personal statement included with your application

You must be between 18 and 23 years old to apply, as well as have a minimum of two A grades at GCE O Level (or its equivalent). If you’re not a citizen of the European Union or an EEA country then you must also meet a language requirement (TOEFL score 550 paper-based or 213 computer-based) and evidence that you can financially support yourself during your studies.

You will need to supply proof of citizenship when you submit your application; if this is not in English, it will need to be translated into English by an approved organization.

For example, if your country uses an Arabic script, the translation must come from an approved organization authorized by UK Visas and Immigration. Successful applicants will receive £1,500 per year to cover tuition fees and living expenses.
